After 120 years of waiting, William poised himself to be released from a prison that the unliving sometimes find themselves in. Although already made of air, William's incorporeal body floated not of his own control but by forces even he had not yet come to understand. He felt as though he was being sucked into a tornado, but there was no noise to accompany the twister that shot him into the sky. William felt a rumble in his chest. For the first time in over a century he actually, physically felt something.

As the rumble grew in his chest William steadied in the air miles above the ground. He could feel the air around him seep into his already lighter-than-air body. He could feel the intensity of the rumble increase. He felt alive again. Even in life he had never felt so good, felt this kind of euphoria that he thought everybody should be lucky enough to experience before they could experience nothing else. William noticed the area around him get brighter. He looked all around until he realized that he was the light. In that instant William burst into countless balls of light so pure that everything in existence could see him.

The living could see him although they could not completely comprehend what they saw. Thinking it must have been a camera flash or light reflected from a passing car, they felt better afterward and were not quite sure why.

Emily could see him from the spirit world and was overjoyed that William had found peace.

Finally, those still lingering in limbo could see him. Somewhere far away, even Charles could see his old friend finally become free. Smiling up toward the sky, his friend and his daughter, his feet slowly began rising off of the floor...
